Align and Shine: How Dr. Liz Chavis is Empowering Wellness in Acadiana
Dr. Elizabeth Romar-Chavis, fondly known as Dr. Liz, is not just a chiropractor—she's a force of nature in her community. As the first Black female chiropractor in Lafayette, Louisiana, Dr. Liz has reshaped the perception of chiropractic care through education, advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to her patients' well-being.
After earning her Doctor of Chiropractic from Life University, Dr. Liz returned to Acadiana with a vision to make chiropractic care accessible and engaging. In 2024, she achieved a major milestone by opening her state-of-the-art clinic in Lafayette, LA, a move made possible with guidance from the LSBDC. In addition to providing financial analysis and feasibility support, the LSBDC worked closely with Dr. Liz to enhance her marketing techniques and focus her efforts on creating strategies that resonate with her audience. Dr. Liz remarked, “The LSBDC didn’t just help me with financial analysis; they gave me access to a network of other entrepreneurs who shared valuable insights and experiences. Their guidance in marketing completely shifted how I connect with my clients.” They also connected Dr. Liz with other business owners for peer-to-peer learning and networking opportunities.
Through her website, social media, and engaging video content, Dr. Liz demystifies chiropractic care, showcasing how it helps her clients return to the activities they love. Her selfie wall, emblazoned with "Align and Shine," is a fan favorite for clients sharing their success stories and celebrating their progress.
Dr. Liz’s impact extends far beyond her clinic walls. She is a member of the Broussard Chamber of Commerce, was selected to participate in Leadership Lafayette—a platform that cultivates and connects community leaders—and sponsors local events like the Acadiana ASHRM Annual Human Resources Conference. In 2024, she was honored with the Outstanding Organization Award at the Women of Excellence Awards and was a finalist in the 2nd Annual Elevate Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition.
Her dedication to giving back is evident through her work with student-athletes at Northside High School, offering chiropractic care and mentorship. Dr. Liz also serves on the board of Hearts of Hope: Center for Sexual Trauma, further emphasizing her commitment to the well-being of her community.
