Advisory Board Member
Jarvis Green is a multifaceted individual whose journey spans from a successful career in the National Football League to becoming a prominent figure in the seafood industry and a dedicated advocate for community service and global sustainable development. His remarkable journey showcases a remarkable blend of athleticism, entrepreneurship, and a steadfast commitment to making a positive impact on a global scale.
Born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, Jarvis terrorized opposing quarterbacks during his college years as a four-year letter winner for the LSU Tigers from 1998-2001. Graduating with a major in Construction Management, he went on to be drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL draft. Over the course of his eight-year career with the Patriots, Jarvis played a crucial role in two Super Bowl championships and was recognized for his philanthropic work with the New England Patriots Ron Burton Community Service Award in 2006.
Post-football, Jarvis embarked on a new chapter by channeling his passion for cooking, food, and nutrition into entrepreneurship. His dedication to learning the ins and outs of the shrimp industry led him to work extensively at the New Orleans Shrimphouse, gaining hands-on experience in every aspect of the business, from shrimp peeling to driving trucks for deliveries. In 2015, he took all his experienced and founded Oceans97, a seafood company that specializes in flavorful product lines, particularly eight flavors of shrimp pate, and developing sales channels with major retailers across the United States.
Beyond his entrepreneurial pursuits, Jarvis's commitment to community service took a transformative turn after a life-changing trip to Africa. Realizing the significance of modernizing the seafood industry on the continent for nutritional security, poverty alleviation, and empowering women-led enterprises, he founded the Green Reef Foundation. This non-profit organization aims to provide fishing and aquacultural communities with nutritious food, clean water, equitable livelihoods, and ecological well-being. Jarvis's global impact extends further as he assumes the role of a strategic advisor to the SEEDS Institute. Collaborating with U.S. Government Agencies and Leading Academic Institutes, he is actively involved in developing innovative approaches to prospering Africa, securing critical supply chains, and fostering next-generation workforce programs that prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion.
